Mammoth Mount Run Propels Women’s Basketball to Win Over Marist

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 8, 2025)—Mount St. Mary's women's basketball shook off an early deficit with a monstrous run, taking control and earning a victory over the Marist Red Foxes. The team concludes the regular season with a 14-15 record and a 12-8 mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

The Mountaineers finish the 2024-25 campaign in fourth place, setting themselves up as the "home" team in the rematch with Marist on Thursday for the MAAC Championship Quarterfinals at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Jo Raflo secured her 1,000th career point in the first half. She becomes the 31st member in program history to reach the milestone and the sixth player to do it in three seasons. The senior ended up with seven points and matched a career high with 12 rebounds.

Anna LeMaster tied a game high and led the Mount with 15 points. Giana Hoddinott tallied 11 points, sending home a career-high three triples while also leading the team with four assists. Jaedyn Jamison added nine points and five boards.

Marist took the early advantage, leading 20-9 after the first quarter. With the Mountaineers trailing 25-9 after a Lexie Tarul three-pointer, the visitors made their charge. When the dust settled at the 8:41 mark of the third quarter, the Mount had strung together a 20-2 run, taking the lead on a LeMaster pull up. The run extended to 36-6, punctuated by a Wesleigh Ferguson layup. The Mount coasted to the win after that, maintaining a double digit lead for the entire fourth quarter.
