EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 7, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball opened their 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference campaign with a mammoth 21-5 victory over Sacred Heart. With their blackjack score, the Mountaineers move to 7-5 on the season and 1-0 in the MAAC.
The Mount got on the board early after a
Bryce Rudisill moonshot to right field drove in
Ty Fredo and
Sam Grube. Fredo and Grube went onto single later in the bottom of the second, driving in
Alex Mendes and
Nick Fleming respectively. A wild pitch scored Grube and a
Mateo Zeppieri batted in Fredo off of a single. A double steal spurred on by Zeppieri eventually scored Rudisill as the freshman took Homeplate. Another five-run outing occurred in the bottom of the fifth and six runs came in during the bottom of the seventh. Fleming sent out a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth, hitting the scoreboard in right field while the senior was in his home run trot.
Fredo went 4-4 in game one with three RBIs and two walks. Rudisill went 2-4 with three RBIs and two walks. And
Nolan Book recorded three RBI's and scoring a run of his own.
Josh Halcisak was credited for his first win of the year while 4.0 innings along four strikeouts.
