A Pioneers Victory on Day Two Sets Rubber Match Face Off Against the Mount on Sunday

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 8, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball dropped game two of their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opening series against Sacred Heart on Saturday by a score of 14-6. With this loss, the Mountaineers move to a 7-6 record on the season and a 1-1 record in MAAC play setting up a series rubber match tomorrow, March 9 against the Pioneers.

Sacred Heart started the game early as J.W. Fitzgerald single brought in a run to score first in the contest in Emmitsburg. But a Bryce Rudisill solo shot in the bottom of the second inning leveled the scores as the Mount got on the board. A throwing error by the Mount in top of the third led to a 3-1 lead for the Pioneers only for Joey Agar to score off of a Sam Grube single in the bottom half of the inning to cut the deficit to one. In the bottom of the fourth, Evan Meier scored on a passed ball while Meier stole home for a run later in the inning off of a catcher-bating pick off from Agar. Mateo Zeppieri resumed his power from the plate, hitting out a two-run home run for the final Mount runs of the game.

Nolan Book went 2-3 at the plate today with a double and a stolen base against Sacred Heart. Rudisill and Zeppieri notched home runs today, with the senior transfer knocking in two RBI's off of his long ball. And Grube went 1-3 with a RBI and a walk to end his day at the plate. Serigne Sarre was accredited with the loss, moving his season tally to 1-3 while striking out four Pioneers.
