EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 29, 2025) – Taking advantage of free position shots and woman-up situations, Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse defeated Siena 12-10 Saturday at Waldron Family Stadium. The Mountaineers are now 6-4 this year and 2-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
Anna Salerno and
Anna McQuay provided the bulk of the goal scoring for the Mount. Salerno finished with five goals while McQuay added a hat trick of three.
Mackenzi Furlong provided a pair of assists – two of four for the day.
Hailey Chester secured six draw controls while
Mackey Fick caused three turnovers.
Olivia Nicholson scored four goals for the Saints. Siena is now 2-7 (0-2 MAAC) this year.
The Mount started off the game with a 6-2 lead, posting four goals on eight free position attempts. A fifth goal came woman-up thanks to a Siena yellow card. The visitors rallied for four goals in the second quarter, but a McQuay goal ensured Mount would lead 7-6 at the break.
Salerno, McQuay, and
Madison Harmening posted three goals to Siena's one to open the second half. The advantage was enough for the Mountaineers to hold on and take the win.
Mount St. Mary's takes to the road to battle Rider Wednesday (Apr. 2). First draw is at 4 p.m.
