Emmitsburg, MD (March 29, 2025) – The Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse team lost to Siena 12-8 on Saturday (Mar. 29). The Mount moves to 2-8 overall and 0-4 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play this season.
Jack Smith and
Brody Atkinson led the offense for the Mountaineers in the contest, both scoring two goals. The other goals were scored by
Connor Barrett (1),
Jaden Saysanam (1),
Kevin Whitty (1), and
Collin Thomson (1). Whitty led the team in assists with two on the day, while
Jack Smith,
Carter Quested, and
Tucker Claxton all tallied one.
Tucker Claxton,
Brian Bradley,
Nate Committee, and
Cole Angeline were all able to force a turnover against the Saints. In the goal,
Bennett Wright had another game with more saves than goals allowed. Wright saved 15 of the 27 on goal, showing a .556 save percentage.
After being outscored 2-0 in the first quarter, the Mount scored their first goal with seven seconds off the clock in the second quarter.
Jaden Saysanam won the quarter's opening faceoff, took the ball down the field, and scored his first collegiate goal. With just under seven minutes to play in the half,
Jack Smith took advantage of a man-up opportunity and scored a goal unassisted. Four minutes later,
Connor Barrett tied the game with a goal, assisted by
Carter Quested. The Saints took control with a goal at the end of the half, giving them a 4-3 lead heading into the locker room. The third quarter was all Siena, as the Saints scored four unanswered goals to start the second half.
Collin Thomson's goal stopped the run, but Siena tallied two more goals to end the third. The Mountaineers bounced back in the fourth, with goals coming from Atkinson, Smith, and Whitty. The deficit would prove to be enough, though, as the Saints added two more goals to secure the win, 12-8.

Th Mountaineers return to Waldron Family Stadium next Saturday (April 5) to take on MAAC opponent Canisius. The opening faceoff will come at 12 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
