Emmitsburg, Md. (March 23, 2025)--Mount St. Mary's dropped the final game of its three-game series with Fairfield, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at Our Lady of the Meadows Field. The Mountaineers were held to one hit in the game while falling to 5-19 overall and 0-3 in the MAAC.
Fairfield (8-16, 3-0 MAAC) scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning to take the early lead. After adding a single run in the fourth, the Stags used a three-run fifth to break the game open en route to the series sweep. Fairfield pitcher Alyssa Weinberg pitched a one-hitter, allowing
Sophia Schmehl's flare over the pitchers circle that landed between three fielders in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Schmehl pitched a complete game for the Mount, allowing five earned runs while striking out five.
The Mount is back in action on Tuesday with a MAAC doubleheader against Manhattan that begins at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Meadows Field.
