URBANA, Md. (March 23, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's increases their lead by five strokes to win the Carpetbagger Classic in Urbana, Maryland on Sunday. Shooting a 291 (+3) on day two allowed the team to hold onto their lead to finish first after two phenomenal days of play, taking the tournament nine strokes ahead of Gettysburg and Howard in second.
Aaron Sorkin takes the individual title with a gross score of 142 (70-72, -2).
Gettysburg and Howard finished with a four-stroke lead over Colgate in fourth on the team leaderboard. Following Sorkin on the individual leaderboard in second place is his teammate
Devin Smith who finished one stroke behind Sorkin with a gross score of 143 (72-71, -1).
To round out the Mount's team effort for first place,
Martin Hurtado finished tied for 12
th with a gross score of 148 (75-73, +4), while
Santiago Bonequi finished tied for 30
th with a gross score of 151 (76-75, +7), and
Felix Lin finished tied for 66
th with a gross score of 158 (77-81,+14).
For the three golfers who played independently from the Mount this weekend,
Daniel Shelley finished tied for 30
th as well with a gross score of 151 (78-73, +7),
Nathan Pheng finished tied for 38
th with a gross score of 153 (78-75, +9), and Fisher Coleman- Sayer completed both rounds with a gross score of 173 (87-86, +29).
