DeLand, Fla. (March 2, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball lost both of its Sunday doubleheader matchups against Indiana and Stetson today as the Mountaineers lost out to the Hoosiers 20-7 in a seven-inning game and a close 5-4 loss to the Hatters. With their trip to the Sunshine State done, the Mountaineers retain a record of 6-5 through the end of their pre-conference schedule.
The Mount got on the board early within the top of the first as a
Ty Fredo double drove
Alex Mendes into the plate to score the first run of the game. A Hoosiers two-run bottom of the third was soon cancelled out by a four-run top of the second by the Mount as Mendes batted in
Kyle Cincinnati and
Evan Meier. Mendes went onto score later in the third inning due to an error committed by the third baseman and Fredo came into score from a
Nolan Book single. The Mountaineers scored their final runs of the game in the top of the fourth after
Mateo Zeppieri sent out a two-run homerun to right field.
Meier and Fredo both went 2-3 against Indiana with Fredo driving in an RBI for the team at the plate. Both Mendes and Zeppieri drove in two RBIs a piece while Zeppieri long ball drove in the teams only four base hit. And Cincinnati went 1-2 while scoring a run himself while working a walk to get on base.

In game two of the day, the Mountaineers and the hatters were held scoreless through the first two innings until a run for the home side came across the plate in the bottom of the third. But the Mount struck back in the top of the fourth as Mendes scored on an error by the left fielder and a Meier single scored Fredo. Two more runs came in the top of the fifth as
Evan Smith hit out a two-run home run to right field to score
Logan Yi. But a late inning push at the end of the game favored the Hatters as they won the game late.
Mendes held his cool at the plate in game two as the Junior went 3-4 while scoring a run of his own. Smith went 1-3 while driving in two RBIs off of his home run in the fifth. And Yi went 1-3 at the plate while crossing the plate and scoring a run.
Eli DeRossi went 5.0 innings with four strikeouts during his game four start.
