EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 17, 2025) – Despite some strong showings, particularly in the second half, Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse dropped a 13-10 decision to the Cincinnati Bearcats on Monday afternoon in Emmitsburg.
Anna Salerno registered a hat trick for the Mountaineers, and
Camille Thomas had 13 saves in a busy afternoon in net.
Mackenzi Furlong had three points off a goal and two assists.
Morgan Baird got her first assist as a collegiate player, and
Jamie Fedorjaka recorded an assist for the first time in a Mount uniform.
Both teams had efficient efforts shooting the ball. 15 of the Mount's 19 shots were on goal, while Cincinnati had 26 of 27 shots on goal.
Mount St. Mary's is now 4-4 on the season as they close out non-conference play.
Coming out firing, the Mount scored the first two of the game. Cincinnati would go on to score the next three to end the first quarter, and the first five of the second period. Furlong stopped the rally with a goal at the 5:41 mark but the Mountaineers trailed 9-3 at halftime.
The Bearcats' lead would grow to 11-3 before the Mount countered.
MK Allingham helped kickstart the charge with back-to-back goals to trim the deficit to 11-6 entering the fourth. The home side would have a 5-0 run and after Cincinnati scored its 12, the Mountaineers got goals from
Brooke Molchanoff and
Madison Harmening, getting as close as 12-10. But the margin proved too great for a comeback as the Bearcats finished off the contest with a late goal.
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play begins Saturday (Mar. 22) at Canisius.
