Softball Swept in Saturday Contest with Albany and Army

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 15, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's softball was defeated on two occasions on Saturday, losing 9-0 to Albany in game one and 11-0 to Army in game two. With these most recent loses, the Mountaineers drop to a 5-15 record on the eve of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.

In game one against Albany, the Mount got runners on base, but couldn't bat the runners in. Laurenne Gallagher led the Mountaineers at the plate against the Great Danes, going 3-3 from home plate. Gina Del Giorno also had herself a day at the plate, going 2-3 at-bat. And Korri Brown worked two walks in her three plate appearances on the day.

In game two against Army, the Black Knights held the Mountaineers hitless, with Katelyn Flanders hurling a perfect game for Army heading into the fifth inning. With one out in bottom of the fifth, with the run rule looming over the heads of the Mountaineers, Tristin Koerner launched a ball into the right field gap, hitting into a stand-up double while simultaneously breaking up a perfect game.

UP NEXT

The Mountaineers host Towson on March 19 in what will be their final non-conference game before the start of MAAC play begins on March 22 with a series at home against Fairfield. First pitch against the Tigers on Wednesday is slated for 2:00 P.M.
