COLLEGE PARK, Md. (March 12, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball lost 9-3 away at Maryland on Wednesday. The Mountaineers are now a game under .500 with a 7-8 record heading into the second weekend of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.
The Mountaineers struck early in the top of the first when a
Ty Fredo double drove in both
Sam Grube and
Alex Mendes. But a combination of solid pitching and offensive prowess at the plate from the Terps stranded the Mount runs wise until the top of the eighth when a Fredo ground-out scored
Stephen Katch.
Grube led the Mountaineers from the plate, going 2-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Fredo drove in all three of the Mount's runs while going 1-3 with a double. Mendes went 1-3 with a walk and a stolen base. And
Nolan Book recorded a 1-3 outing from the plate with a walk in tow.
Ryan Brown was accredited with the loss on the day, bring his season record to 1-1 even though the freshman pitched an inning and a third.
Owen Crowe and
Jake Andrews both made relief appearance out of the bullpen today, accruing a combined stat line of 2.0 IP, two strikeouts, two walks and one hit through 10 faced batters.
