Jacksonville, Fla. (March 1, 2025)—Avery Dinges had three hits to lead Mount St. Mary's past Jacksonville, 6-4, on Day Two of the Jacksonville Classic. The Mount opened the day with a 10-1 loss to DePaul. The Mountaineers are now 4-4 on the season.
DePAUL 10, MOUNT ST. MARY'S 1
DePaul scored eight times in the bottom of the third inning to break the game open en route to a 10-1 win over the Mountaineers on Saturday. The Mount defeated the Blue Demons yesterday, 2-1, in eight innings.
The Mount grabbed the early lead when
Tristin Koerner doubled home
Lia Festa for a 1-0 advantage in the top of the second. The Blue Demons answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame, and took control with the eight-run third.
Koerner finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles.
MOUNT ST. MARY'S 6, JACKSONVILLE 4
Mount St. Mary's turned the tables on Jacksonville today, posting a 6-4 victory in the second game of the day. The Mount fell to Jacksonville, 8-0, yesterday.
Avery Dinges provided the offense for the Mount, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Ellie Meier earned the win, tossing a complete game, allowing three earned runs, to improve to 2-0 this season.
Dinges opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first, and she then scored on a
Laurenne Gallagher RBI base hit. After Jacksonville answered with a run in the bottom of the first, Dinges added another RBI double in the top of the second to push the lead to 3-1.
The Dolphins (11-6) tied the score on Alayna Gaddy's two-run homer in the bottom of the second, and took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third.
The Mount regained the lead in the fourth on an
Olivia Murphy two-run double.
Lia Festa's solo homer in the fifth gave the Mount an insurance run. Meier was able to shut the door from there for the 6-4 win.
UP NEXT: The Mount will play DePaul at 10 am before heading to North Florida for a 3 pm matchup.
