Mount Softball Falls to DePaul and North Florida on Final Day in Florida

Jacksonville, Fla. (March 2, 2025)—Mount St. Mary's closed out their Florida trip today, falling to DePaul in the final game of the JU Classic, and at North Florida.

DePAUL 15, MOUNT ST. MARY'S 1
Mount St. Mary's opened the day with a 15-1 loss to DePaul in the final game of the JU Classic.

The Blue Demons took the lead on a Kelly Beaupre two-run double in the top of the first inning.  The Mount answered in the bottom of the frame when Avery Dinges singled home Taylor Williams.

DePaul scored four times in the fourth and nine more in the fifth to break the game open.  Freshman Korri Brown recorded her first career hit for the Mount in the fifth inning.

NORTH FLORIDA 1, MOUNT ST. MARY'S 0
After playing DePaul in the morning, the Mount drove over to North Florida for an afternoon matchup.  The Mountaineers were edged by the Ospreys, 1-0, in an old-fashioned pitcher's duel.

Olivia Murphy tossed a complete-game two-hitter, allowing just the one run, for a hard-luck loss.  Avery Dinges stayed hot at the plate, going 2-for-3 in the game.  Dinges went 3-for-5 in the two games today, giving her a .500 average (8-for-16) in the Mount's six games over the weekend.

The Mount had the potential runs thrown out at the plate twice in the game.  In the third inning, Taylor Williams and Gina Del Giorno posted back-to-back singles to set the table for Dinges, who came through with a single to left.  Williams, however, was gunned down at the plate to keep the Mount off the scoreboard.  In the fifth, Dinges doubled and was thrown out trying to score on a Laurenne Gallagher single.

UP NEXT:  The Mount has a pair of games at Winthrop on Tuesday, March 4.  The Mount will face Youngstown State at noon and host Winthrop at 5 pm.
