Women’s Lacrosse Begins Season with Victory Over Towson

EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 8, 2025) – With a strong third quarter and a stout defensive effort all the way up to the last minute, Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse begins the 2025 campaign with an 11-10 victory over the Towson Tigers at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

MK Allingham recorded the first hat trick of her Mountaineers career in an efficient manner. The junior recorded three goals on five shots, four of which were on goal. Anna Salerno added a hat trick of her own, thanks in large measure to going 2-for-3 on free position shots.

Defense provided a collective effort, led by Camille Thomas in goal. In her second collegiate start, the sophomore denied the Tigers with eight saves. Mount won the draw control battle 14-10, with five each coming from Shannon McTavish and Madison Harmening.

The win marks the second in program history over Towson and the first 1-0 beginning since their most recent triumph over the Tigers in 2022.

A pair of late first half goals gave Towson the edge, 6-4, at the break. The script flipped in the third quarter as Salerno started the rally on a man-down goal. Allingham scored twice with Harmening and Anna McQuay earning goals to compile the 5-0 run. Fourth quarter tallies from Harmening and Mackenzi Furlong put the visitors up 11-8. The Tigers managed to get within one and had the chance to send the contest to overtime with seconds left, when Hailey Chester caused a game-sealing turnover.

One week from today (Feb. 15), the Mount welcomes Lafayette for the home opener. Game time is 11 a.m. from Waldron Family Stadium.
