EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 15, 2025) –
Anna Salerno and
Anna McQuay contributed on 10 of 14 goals as Mount St. Mary's defeats Lafayette, 14-6, at snowy Waldron Family Stadium.
Salerno had the most points, tallying six in the win off four goals and two assists. McQuay scored four goals on five shots in the victory. The duo combines with
MK Allingham as the top three offensive weapons so far with five points or more.
In net,
Camille Thomas registered 10 saves to procure her second consecutive victory. Salerno was also instrumental in defense as well with four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Mackey Fick matched her teammate in CT's.
Both teams were even on the draw with
Hailey Chester obtaining six of the Mount's 12 possession wins.
As the snow continued to pile on the slick turf, there were numerous delays as the grounds crew and operations staff worked diligently to clear the field. The sides played to an even 3-3 score after one quarter, with Lafayette leveling the score with 90 ticks left. Goals by
Madison Harmening and Salerno ensured a halftime lead and the Mount went into the locker rooms up 6-4.
After several discussions on whether to continue, the game progressed into the second half. The home team shined in the snow, outpacing the Leopards 8-2 in the second half. A 3-0 run to open the third quarter iced the contest, and McQuay completed the scoring with each of the final three tallies.
Next Saturday (Feb. 22), the Mount faces Delaware at Waldron Family Stadium. First draw is at noon.
