EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 8, 2025) – In a highly competitive Mount Shootout, Mount St. Mary's bowling holds second place with a 6-3 record. Over the two qualifying days, the Mountaineers sit one pin behind Fairleigh Dickinson University with 10,686 knocked over.
Aliza Shirk fired a 1,180 series to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team, placing second in a field of 80 qualifying bowlers. The junior tallied games of 279 and 259 on the way to sealing the spot.
Leah Varela was on the cusp of making all-tournament as well, coming in fifth with a 1,148 series.
The Mountaineers began 3-0, bolstered by a win over #12 Sacred Heart, while also beating Kutztown and Mercyhurst. They would shoot over 1,000 in each games but would get tabled with defeats via strong performances from Bryant and Emmanuel. By defeating the Lakers in game three, the Mount would earn its 50
th win of the season.

Bracket play begins at 9 a.m. on Sunday (Feb. 9) from Clearview Lanes. Mount St. Mary's will face Fairleigh Dickinson for the right to clinch the automatic advancement to the championship game.
