EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 28, 2025) – In a competitive ballgame most of the way, Mount St. Mary's battled with B10 foe Indiana until the Hoosiers pieced together some crooked numbers late for an 18-5 win at Melching Field at Conrad Park in DeLand, Florida.
With the defeat, Mount St. Mary's is now 6-2 for the season.
Evan Meier,
Ty Fredo, and
Bryce Rudisill finished with multi-hit efforts as the Mount compiled 10 hits on the Hoosiers.
Nolan Book drove in two runs and
Sam Grube scored twice. The best pitcher for the Mountaineers was Josh Halcisk, firing two innings of one-run ball.
Indiana began the day with a 5-0 lead, prompting the Mount to rally. Cincinnati drove home Rudisill on a sac fly, and Book stole home to pull within 5-2 after two. Book added a two-run single to bring around Grube and Fredo in the third, and Fredo delivered Grube home on a sacrifice fly to level proceedings.
Halcisk conceded a run in the fifth to allow IU to regain the lead, and the opposition tacked one on against
Tommy Moore to make it 7-5 Hoosiers at mid-6. The Mountaineers were unable to answer, and Indiana ensured the contest was theirs with six runs in the seventh.
The Mountaineers battle Stetson in DeLand on Saturday, starting at 5 p.m.
