SALISBURY, Md. (February 26, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball won their single-game match up against the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore with a 17-5 victory against the Hawks on Wednesday. With their win on the eastern shore of Maryland, the Mount moves to a 6-1 record on the season.
After an early double-steal by
Sam Grube and
Ty Fredo,
Bryce Rudisill batted in Grube on a fielder's choice to begin the game. Fredo eventually scored in the top of the first from a
Nolan Book double to make it 2-0 through the first. Five more runs followed though the third inning, with
Evan Smith hitting out a Grand Slam in the top of the third. Up by two runs heading into the fifth inning, Grube singled in the top of the fifth, scoring Smith and
Jake Maske.
Mateo Zeppieri continued his long-ball hot streak with a three-run home run in the top of the sixth. From then on, the Mountaineers did not look back as they secured their sixth win of the season.
Smith led the way with five RBIs with four coming from his third inning Grand Slam while going 2-4 from the plate. Zeppieri capped off another stellar performance at the plate, with three RBIs from his sixth inning home run with a stolen base and a walk to round off his game. Maske went 1-4 with three RBIs from the plate and
Nolan Book went 4-6 with a double and an RBI.
Ryan Brown in his first appearance for the Mount this season earned a win on the day with three strikeouts.
