Emmitsburg, Md (February 15, 2025) – The Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse team is bringing home their second win of the season against Wagner, 15-9.
Wagner started the day off, going on a two-goal unanswered run until 
Brody Atkinson scored his first goal of the day. Wagner responded with their own goal, giving them a lead of 3-1. The Mount added another goal on the scoreboard with 
Jack Smith feeding Atkinson for his second goal of the day.  To finalize the first quarter, 
Connor Barrett scored a goal to tie the game at 3-3.
The second quarter is when the Mount took control, scoring seven of the 15 goals scored in the game. The scoring run started with 
Jack Smith's second goal of the game with less than two minutes off the clock.  Graduate student defenseman 
Seamus McCloskey scored his first goal of the season off the faceoff win by 
Jaden Saysanam. 
Marcelo Carreiro scored the next two goals for Mount, one coming assisted by 
Jack Smith. 
Kevin Whitty scored his second goal of the season, assisted by 
John Miller IV. With 7:26 left in the half, the Mount held a five-goal lead. 
Jack Smith tallied his second goal of the game, being assisted by 
Carter Quested. Wagner stopped the run with a goal being scored with four and a half minutes left in the half. 
Marcelo Carreiro rounded out the scoring in the first half with a goal, assisted by 
Will McKay, to give the Mount the lead 10-4.
To start the second half, 
Connor Barrett scored an unassisted goal with two and a half minutes off the clock. This ended Barrett's scoring for the day with two goals on four shots. Wagner began the fight back with two unanswered goals only 25 seconds apart. The Seahawks scored a third goal with just under seven minutes remaining in the third quarter to make the score 11-7. After one more Wagner goal, 
Kevin Whitty found the back of the net for his second goal of the game. This ends the third quarter with the Mountaineers holding the lead, 12-8.
The Mountaineers' three final goals all came unanswered, with 
Jack Smith getting his third and final goal of the game. 
Will McKay and 
Collin Thomson each added a goal of their own to give the Mount a commanding 15-8 lead with five minutes remaining in the contest. Wagner scored one more goal before the final horn, giving Mount the win, 15-9.

The Mountaineers will take the short trip to Baltimore to take on UMBC on Friday, February 21, at 6 PM.
