Mount St. Mary's Rallies, but Falls Short in 64-56 Loss at Marist

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (December 5, 2025)—Mount St. Mary's rallied from a 10-point deficit to hold a late lead, but fell just short in a 64-56 loss at Marist on Friday night.  Arlandus Keyes paced the Mount with 13 points while Xavier Lipscomb added 12 in the loss.  The Mountaineers fall to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Trailing 32-20 after the first basket of the second half, the Mount dug in on the defensive end to kick start a 21-to-2 run to take the lead.  Luke McEldon started the run ahead of a Justin Amadi fast break basket.  McEldon added a free throw and Keyes scored on a drive to make it 32-27.  After a Marist basket, Amadi hit a three-pointer and Keyes scored on a fast break after a Lipscomb steal and assist to cut the deficit to 34-32.  Lipscomb gave the Mount the lead on a three-pointer, and Mason So's jumper forced a Marist timeout.  Trey Deveaux capped the run with back-to-back baskets for a 41-34 lead with 11:46 remaining.

The Mount maintained the advantage, leading 48-44 with 6:48 on the clock before Marist scored the next six points, taking the lead on an Elijah Lewis basket, 50-48, with three minutes left.  Trailing 52-50, the Mount regained the lead on a Lipscomb three-pointer with 2:10 on the clock.  Marist, however, kept the Mount off the scoreboard over the next minute and a half, building a 60-53 lead with 37 seconds left.  From there, the Red Foxes (5-2, 1-0 MAAC) were able to secure the win.

Keyes finished with 13 points and four rebounds while Lipscomb stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists.  Amadi added eight points, six rebounds and a pair of blocks with McEldon and Deveaux each chipping in seven points and six boards.  Rhylon Blackwell led all scorers with 16 points for Marist with Jadin Collins-Roberts and Justin Menard adding 11 each.

The Mount was held to 34.5 percent shooting (19-of-55) overall and 6-of-22 (.273) from three-point range.  Marist shot 43.4 percent (23-of-53) overall and 36.8 percent (7-of-19) from beyond the arc.
The Mount came out strong, building an 8-0 lead in the opening two minutes.  Keyes and Lipscomb drained three-pointers ahead of a McEldon basket that forced a Red Fox timeout.  The Mount offense went cold after the timeout as Marist went on a 19-to-1 run to take a 19-10 advantage.

Marist continued to surge, building a 24-12 lead after a Blackwell bucket with 6:08 let in the half.  That capped a 24-to-4 Marist run that saw the Mount go 1-for-17 from the field with eight turnovers.
The Mount cut the deficit to 25-17 after a McEldon lay-up, but Marist countered with the next five points, capped by a Parby Kabamba triple.  Keyes was able to make it a 10-point game at the half, hitting a long three-pointer right before the halftime buzzer to make it 30-20.
