Nine Mountaineers Score in Season Opener at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (November 4, 2025) –Mount St. Mary's women's basketball fell in their season opener to the Richmond Spiders, 83-49. Despite defeat, the Mount shared in the point total with nine different players scoring. Berlynn Carlson scored 12 in her collegiate debut to lead the team.
 
HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED
  • Amber Bullard scored the first basket of the year with a layup at the 7:27 mark of the 1st quarter.
  • After being held to six points in the opening frame, the Mount scored the first five of the second period courtesy of Bullard and a three-pointer from Gabrielle Kennerly.
  • The Mountaineers made more strides to battle the Spiders but fell short 16-11 in the period.
  • Six different Mountaineers scored in the opening half, led by four points from Bullard. Along with Kennerly, Mikaela Parris, Erin Edmonds, Giana Hoddinott, and Carlson all posted buckets and free throws.
  • Richmond went from shooting 6-for-12 from three-point range in the first quarter to 1-for-9 in the second quarter.
  • The Spiders opened the third quarter on a 7-0 run, forcing a Mountaineers timeout with 7:27 on the clock. That extended to 12-0 before Nyodie Guerard hit a layup.
  • Lindsey provided half of the Mount's points in the third period. She collected all seven points in the final 4:08.
  • Guerard and Carlson combined for 14 of the team's 18 points in the fourth quarter.

NOTEWORTHY ITEMS
  • Bench players scored 34 points in the contest – the most for a Mount team since November 28, 2021 at Clemson.
  • Eight players made their Mount debuts in the contest – the seven newcomers and redshirt freshman Teodora Ivanovic. Five of those players scored a point.
  • The Mount is now 6-5 all-time against Richmond. They have fallen in the past two games.
  • Mount St. Mary's falls in the season opener for the seventh consecutive year. The last opening night victory was against Washington College in 2018.
