EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 1, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's went a perfect 5-0 during the first day of the Niagara Brunswick Fall Open in Niagara Falls, New York. By three pins, the team sits second in total pinfall behind the hosting Purple Eagles.
Sierra Calo and
Leah Varela earned All-Tournament honors with top five finishes. Calo came second in the field with a 1,045 series, scoring 225 at the high end. Varela recorded a series of 1,024, finishing the day with games of 217 and 229.
Aliza Shirk also finished top ten, rolling a 995 series to come in eighth place.
The squad defeated host Niagara by 15 pins to open the tournament, which proved to be closest margin all day. Never falling below 900, the Mountaineers strode past Mercyhurst, Penn State Behrend, William Smith, and Daemen.
