Dola Adebayo Matches Career High in Loss at Siena

Box Score Albany, N.Y. (January 23, 2025)—Dola Adebayo matched his career high with 21 points, but it was not enough as Mount St. Mary's fell at Siena, 82-68, on Thursday night at MVP Arena.  The Mount has lost three in a row to fall to 11-8 overall and 4-4 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Trailing 43-36 at the half, Mount St. Mary's pulled within three points on a Hobbs drive early in the second half, but Siena's Brendan Coyle took control of the game from there.  After a Freeman three-pointer, Coyle scored Siena's next six baskets, all from three-point range, to give the Saints a 67-49 lead.  Siena maintained the double digit advantage the rest of the way.

Adebayo finished with 21 points to match his career high set at Rider a week ago.  He added five rebounds while connecting on 7-of-9 from the field.  Jedy Cordilia added 16 points and five rebounds while Dallas Hobbs had 14 points.  Xavier Lipscomb added nine assists and six rebounds in the loss.  Coyle led all scorers with 26 points, hitting 7-of-9 from three-point range in the game.  Justice Shoats added 18 and Major Freeman 17 in the win for Siena.

The Mountaineers got off to a fast start, building an 11-to-2 advantage in the opening three minutes of the game with Adebayo scoring six during the stretch.  The Saints (9-10, 4-4 MAAC) responded with a 12-0 run to take a three-point lead.

Dallas Hobbs ended the Siena run with a three-pointer, and a Cordilia bucket with 7:22 left in the half put the Mount on top, 22-21.  The Saints grabbed the lead again on another extended run, outscoring the Mount, 16-2, over the next four minutes for a 37-24 lead.

Carmelo Pacheco ended that run with a three from the top of the key, and he closed the half with a triple at the buzzer to cut the deficit to 43-36 at the break.

Adebayo paced the Mount with 12 points in the opening half while Pacheco was 3-for-3 from beyond the arc for nine points.  Cordilia added eight for the Mount in the opening 20 minutes.  The Saints shot 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the field in the half with Freeman scoring 11 points.

GAME NOTES
  • Terrell Ard Jr. missed his third consecutive game for the Mount due to injury.Ard Jr. averages 11.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this year.
  • Siena holds a 7-2 lead in the all-time series with the Mountaineers.The Mount is 2-3 against the Saints MAAC regular season games since joining the MAAC for the 2022-23 season.
  • Adebayo set his career high of 21 points at Rider last Thursday.He leads the Mount with 15 double figures scoring games this year.
