Emmitsburg, Md. (September 6, 2024)--Mount St. Mary's women's tennis opened the 2024-25 season with a 6-1 victory over Chestnut Hill on Friday afternoon at the Rooney Tennis Courts on campus.

The Mount took two doubles matches to secure the doubles point.  Freshman Emma Perkins teamed with Margherita Trolese for a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles while freshmen Venus Tang and Amari O'Brien combined for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.

In singles play, Trolese downed Alison Isaac, 1-6, 6-1, 10-8 at the No. 1 singles positoin with Perkins recording a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.  Tang secured a win at No. 3 singles while O'Brien won in straight sets at No. 4.  Valentine Mudry rounded out the Mount's scoring with a victory at No. 6 singles.

The Mountaineers are back in action at the Bedford Cup on September 13-15.
