EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 23, 2024) – In their last non-conference tuner until Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play begins, Mount St. Mary's men's soccer travels to Pittsburgh for a match with Duquesne.
MOUNT UPDATE
Last Tuesday, the Mountaineers battled in formidable fashion against ranked James Madison.
Junee Lee got a late goal, denying JMU a clean sheet and allowing a brief shot at an equalizer before taking a 2-1 defeat. Lee becomes the second multi-goal scorer for the Mount this year, joining
Abou Cherif.
Defense continues to be a focal point for the team. Goalkeeper
Julian Marcos is fourth in the MAAC for saves per game at 4.71 per match.
SCOUTING THE DUKES
Taking positive results in six out of seven matches, Duquesne is off to a fast start in 2024. The stretch run to Tuesday culminates in a 1-1 draw with Notre Dame and a victory in their Atlantic 10 opener against George Washington. Seven different players scored for the Dukes so far, with Jaxon Ervin, Maxi Hopfer, and Ashton Jell each scoring twice.
