Graham’s Goal Secures Draw for Mount Men’s Soccer Versus Longwood

EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 14, 2024) – Junior Graham Dougald scored his first goal in a Mount St. Mary's uniform, helping the men's soccer team earn a 1-1 draw with the Longwood Lancers on Saturday evening.

Dougald broke thru the goalless stalemate by taking a cross from Mackie Sacarellos and planting the shot on the lower right side of the net. Dominik Topolsky also received an assist credit for delivering a pass to Sacarellos, earning points in two straight matches. For Dougald, the tally was not only his first as a Mountaineer, but his first as a collegiate player.

Longwood's response came in the 73rd minute when substitute Mateo Nance lobbed a right foot attempt toward an open patch of net which found its way in.

The Mount had a golden chance to pull ahead once again when Joshua Yoder made a hard tackle on Topolsky in the box for a penalty chance. Topolsky's shot, headed for the left post, was saved by Lancers goalie Max Hinke.

Shots were almost even in the game, with Longwood taking two more chances. Both sides matched in on-target attempts with five apiece. Hinke and Mount keeper Julian Marcos supplied four saves each for their respective teams.

Staying put, Mount St. Mary's host James Madison Tuesday (Sept. 17) in a 7 p.m. kickoff from Waldron Family Stadium.
