College Park, Md. (September 14, 2024)—A trio of freshman paced the Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team today at the Bedford Cup. On the day, the Mountaineers collected four singles wins and a doubles match on the second day of competition at the tournament.
The Mount's freshmen class had a strong day with freshmen
Amari O'Brien,
Venus Tang and
Emma Perkins each collecting singles wins. Perkins downed Solange Skeene of George Washington, 6-4, 7-5, Tang earned a 7-5, 3-6, 10-5 win over George Mason's Maitree Rout while O'Brien took a 5-7, 6-4, 10-4 win over Stefania Moysiadi of Morgan State.
Ryan McCarthy also earned a come-from-behind win over Towson's Sofia Anderson, 3-6, 6-2, 10-4.
The Mount's doubles win today was a 6-1 win by O'Brien and Tang over George Mason's Maya Bayat and Paige Massey.
The Bedford Cup concludes tomorrow.
