College Park, Md. (September 13, 2024)—The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team rounded out the first day of competition at the Bedford Cup on Friday with four singles wins and three doubles victories.  The Bedford Cup is hosted at the Junior Tennis  Champions Center in College Park.

In singles play, freshmen Venus Tang and Emma Perkins each recorded straight set wins while Ryan Mcarthy prevailed 6-2, 6-3 over Howard's Hanna Dessie and Margherita Trolese earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Brandy Babcock-Hannah of Coppin State.

In doubles action, Valentine Mudry and Emma Kaden prevailed, 7-5, over Loyola's Sophia Moore and Addison Kemerer.  Perkins and Trolese rebounded from a first round doubles loss with a 6-3 win over a tandem from George Mason while Tang and Amari O'Brien won a first round match over Lakshya Motam and Noelle Talarek from George Mason.

The tournament continues on Saturday before wrapping up on Sunday.
