EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 31, 2024) – Two goals – one in each half – were the difference as the Mount St. Mary's men's soccer team got upended by the Bucknell Bison in a 2-0 decision.
Abou Cherif and
Junee Lee provided the offensive chances for the Mountaineers, sending in five of the team's six shots. Lee had two shots on goal and Cherif added a third.
Maks Czyz added in the additional attempt.
Julian Marcos contributed six saves on the defensive end.
Bucknell got on the board in the 26
th minute on a penalty kick by Jack Lucas.
Markus Nilsen of the Mount received a yellow card for the infraction. A second half header by Ben Sheffield from Jack Lucas accounted for the second score.
Two of the new Mountaineers –
Antoine DeCoteau and
Christian Rodriguez – made their collegiate debuts during the match.
Mount St. Mary's is 0-2-1 on the season after the result, and Bucknell is 2-0.
The road trip continues for the Mountaineers, traveling to face La Salle and Delaware over the next 10 days.
