Mount Women’s Soccer Falls on Second Half NJIT Score

EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 25, 2024) – A second half score sent the Mount St. Mary's women's soccer team to defeat for the first time this year, falling 1-0 to the NJIT Highlanders Sunday. The team's record now stands at 2-1 for the season.

The team's defense can still boast keeping clean sheets for the first 232 minutes of gameplay. In the 52nd minute, NJIT's Emily Jozak found Mikayla Balio on a through ball, depositing it in the left corner of the net. Mount goalkeeper Adelaide Parades passed every other test thrown her way, finishing the game with eight saves.

On offense, the Mountaineers ended the contest on six shots with four on target. Their best chance was arguably their first one, a blast from Lilian Young. Luisangely Navas, Nathalie Mejia, and Sydoney Clarke all tested NJIT netminder Mojisola Ayodele, but she managed to collect all four for saves.

The all-time series between the sides now stands deadlocked at 1-1-3.

Staying in Emmitsburg, the Mount battles Lafayette Wednesday (Aug. 28). Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
