EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 25, 2024) – Five second half goals, including four in the final 30 minutes, generated a wild finish at Waldron Family Stadium between Mount St. Mary's and Robert Morris. Both teams picked up a point in a 3-3 draw.
Abou Cherif provided the bulk of the offense, scoring the first two goals of his college career. The first score came off a deflected rebound and put the match level at 1-1. His second capped off a 3-0 Mount run, placing on straight-on lob from Eliot Neal in for the 3-1 score. In between Cherif's goal,
Junee Lee gave the Mount the edge, posting a goal off a free kick from
Dominik Topolsky.
Robert Morris earned their first goal on a penalty in the opening half. Down 3-1, the Colonials dug in on the offensive side. In a span of five minutes and change, they get goals off a corner kick and a rocket from William Dodzi Afawubo that pushed the game to 3-3.
The rest of the contest saw the Mount back on defense, but chances were either thwarted by the back line or saved by goalkeeper
Julian Marcos.
Mount St. Mary's plays the next three games away from home. The first game on that list is a Thursday (Aug. 29) road trip to Bucknell. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
