EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 4th, 2024) – After a scoreless first seven innings and a pitcher's duel among the teams, the Broncs were able to score eight runs between the eighth and ninth innings to cut the Mount's sweep hopes short, losing this afternoon's contest, 8-3.

Jakob Foster started the game on the mound for the Mountaineers and pitched six scoreless innings, giving up just one hit, while tallying six punch outs.
Only a collective of four hits before the eighth inning between both teams on this consistently rainy day. The Broncs were able to break open for two runs in the top of the frame via a two RBI single punched through the right side.
The Mountaineers responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame.
Tyler Long hit a leadoff home run on a full count to give his team the momentum they needed to get back within striking distance. A few batters later, pinch-hitter
Ty Stecko hit a perfectly placed ball on the right field line to
Scott Seeker and knot the game at two.
Rider erupted for six runs in the top of the ninth on a full count grand slam to regain the lead and take all momentum away from the Mountaineers. The Broncs added two more to cushion their lead before ending the frame.
Mount St. Mary's was faced with a six-run comeback scenario in which they were able to string together three hits including a Seeker RBI double yet couldn't muster the six-run comeback needed to extend the game.
Mount St. Mary's goes 2-1 over one of the conference leaders Rider to even out their conference record at 9-9, positioning themselves, at this moment, fifth place in the conference with conference games still active today/this weekend.
