EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 1st, 2024) – After getting behind a quick nine runs the Mountaineers fought back to make it a one-run game in the sixth inning. The Mount fell prey to good Towson hitting resulting in this evening's loss, 19-8.
The Tigers scored four runs in the first, three in the second, and two runs in the third inning to take a fast 9-0 lead. Towson hit consecutive home runs to break the game open in the second inning.
The Mountaineers answered in the bottom of the third with a run after
Josh Braxton was subbed in to pinch run and worked the base path to leg out a run on a
Scott Seeker single to end the drought.
Mount St. Mary's erupted for five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring five runs on two hits.
Shane Wockley opened the scoring with a lead off solo shot over left field, his eighth of the season.
JT Landwehr followed with a single to the gap in center field, followed by an error to score three runs.
Ty Stecko followed with a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Landwehr, 9-6.
After holding the Tigers scoreless in the top of the sixth, the Mount threw two more runs up on the board to cut the deficit to one.

Holding the Mount scoreless the bottom three frames, Towson was able to break open the game again, scoring 10 runs in the final three to win tonight's game.
