EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 25, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's women's water polo begins their quest for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championship Friday, heading to Marist for the weekend. The team Is seeded No. 3 from the Blue Division and faces LIU, who is ranked No. 2 from the Red Division.
 
Should the Mount advance, they would face Wagner on Saturday, with the victor heading off to the title game Sunday.
 
MOUNT UPDATE: Two narrow defeats in the Mount's final regular season weekend, also at Marist, completed the regular season as the team finished 14-14 with a 4-7 MAAC mark. Ana Luisa Cotta received a Second Team All-MAAC selection Friday after leading the Mountaineers with 73 goals and 21 field blocks. Anita Radaelli finished the season as the leader with 54 assists and 52 steals, and Heather Lock provided 72 drawn exclusions.
 
THE SHARKS: Earning 22 wins during the regular season, LIU went 10-2 in MAAC play, defeating every team except for league leader Wagner. In their season finales in Philadelphia last weekend, they defeated Villanova 15-13 and La Salle 19-8. Paola Dominguez-Castro received Offensive Player of the Year honors by the MAAC and received All-MAAC accolades with Elena Camarena and Sydney DeVroedt.  
 
PREVIOUS HISTORY: Mount St. Mary's looks for their first win against LIU. The Mount fell 14-9 in 2022, 12-3 in 2023, and 18-8 this past March 16.
