EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 21st, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's baseball lost tonight's context 8-3, the Stags scored four of their eight runs in the first three innings.
Fairfield opened the game with three consecutive scoring innings while holding Mount ST. Mary's scoreless to take an early 4-0 lead.
JT Landwehr started on the hill for the Mountaineers and pitched a solid 4 1/3 innings after allowing four runs on six hits while fanning four batters and pitching out of a bases loaded no out second inning.
Luke Pryor closed and pitching a strong two innings, allowing only two hits on two runs, including pitching himself out of a jam as well.
The Mountaineers opened the scoring in the seventh inning after exchanging a run with the Stags.
Efrain Correa, Jr. doubled to right center batting in
Jayson Kramer, 5-1 headed into the eighth inning.
The Stags added another run in the top of the eighth inning to bring the score to 6-1 headed to the bottom of the frame.
Tyler Long hit a leadoff single followed by a
Scott Seeker two run bomb over right field's fence to cut the deficit in half, 6-3.
The Stags cushioned their lead with two runs to put the game out of reach for Mount St. Mary's and stealing game three.
