April 16, 2024—The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team split its final two matches of the season, posting a 6-1 win over Marist on Monday after falling to Siena, 6-1, on Sunday night. The Mountaineers conclude the 2023-24 season with a 3-11 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
In the win over Marist, the Mount took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Adrian Barney and
Bella Pescatore teamed for a 7-5 win at the No. 2 spot while
Valentine Mudry and
Ana Alvarez-Storni paired for a 7-5 win at No. 3. In singles play,
Sofia Kostirko edged Caterina Assi, 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, at the No. 1 singles position to finish the year 12-2 in dual matches, including a 5-1 mark in the MAAC. Alvarez-Storni won at No. 3 singles, Pescatore won at No. 4, Barney was a winner at No. 5, and Mudry colected a win at No. 6.
In the loss to Siena, the Mount's lone point of the match was a straight set win by Mudry at No. 6 singles.
