NIAGARA, NY (April 14th, 2024) – The Mountaineers opened the game with a one run lead yet conceded five runs between the third and fifth innings to drop this afternoon's contest, 9-5.
Aiden Tierney started the scoring for the mount off an RBI single to left field to score
Evan Smith, 1-0 after one.
Holding the Mount scoreless, Niagara rattled off four runs between the second and third innings to take command of the game, 4-1. A solo home run, an RBI double, and a two RBI single credited the first four for the Purple Eagles.
Niagara cushioned their lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning off a score on a wild pitch and an RBI single to right field.
The Mountaineers responded in the top of the seventh with four runs of their own to cut the deficit to a run, 6-5.
Ty Fredo opened the scoring with a solo shot over left field, followed by a
Ty Stecko two RBI ground-rule double, scoring
Shane Wockley and Tierney.
The Purple Eagles kept command the rest of the way while adding three runs to their lead to take game three from Mount St. Mary's.
