Lawrenceville, N.J. (April 9, 2024)--Mount St. Mary's fell at Rider, 5-2, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup on Tuesday.  Sofia Kostirko and Valentine Mudry both won in singles play to earn the Mount's points in the matches.

In doubles, Rider won three close matches to secure the doubles point and the early lead.  Kostirko and Riya Mathur were clipped, 7-5, at No. 1 doubles while Ana Alvarez-Storni and Mudry fell at No. 2 doubles, 6-4.  Bella Pescatore and Adriana Barney lost by the same 6-4 score at the No. 3 doubles position.

Kostirko continued her perfect run in MAAC play at the No. 1 singles spot, posting a 6-2, 6-2 win over Laila Fishman.  Kostirko is now 4-0 in dual matches in MAAC play at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, and she moves to 11-1 on the season with the win.  Mudry cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 6 spot for the Mountaineers as well.  Mathur, Barney and Pescatore each dropped a three-set decision in their singles matches.

The Mount (2-10, 0-4 MAAC) returns to action on Sunday at Siena.
