SMYRNA, Tenn. (March 9, 2024) – Following a start that them put in the middle of the standings, Mount St. Mary's bowling finished strong on the first day of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Sectionals. The results placed them in fourth and in line for a berth at Nationals entering the second half of the tournament on Sunday.
Over the marathon of 32 Baker games, the Mount finished with a total pinfall of 6,232. They stand 75 pins ahead of the University of the Cumberlands for the final spot. SCAD-Savannah leads the field, followed by Jacksonville State and Maryland Eastern Shore.
Aliza Shirk had the best Baker average among the Mountaineers with a 21.10.
Trishelle Leal Uribe tallied a 19.42 average while
Alyssa Balest had a 19.31.
Should the Mount retain one of their top four teams, it will mark their third advancement to the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships as a program.
