Emmitsburg, Md. (March 24, 2024)—The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team fell to Fairfield, 6-1, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts on Sunday.  Sofia Kostirko improved to 7-0 this season at the No. 1 singles position with a win today.

The Mount's duo of Kostirko and Margherita Trolese earned a 7-6 (7-3) win at the No. 1 doubles position, but the Stags (3-7, 1-0 MAAC) won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to secure the doubles point.  The Mount's pair of Adriana Barney and Ana Alvarez-Storni fell at No. 2 doubles to Lily Malinowski and Francesca Karman.

In singles play, Kostirko won in straight sets over Sarah Liu, 6-4, 6-0, to put the Mount on the scoreboard.  Bella Pescatore fell at No. 4 singles to Karman, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) while Valentine Mudry was edged at No. 6 singles by Maeve Cassidy, 6-0, 2-6, 1-0 (10-4).

The Mount (2-5, 0-2 MAAC) is back in action tomorrow at home against Saint Francis U.
