Baltimore, Md. (March 20, 2024)--Mount St. Mary's was topped by Morgan State in a twinbill on Wednesday afternoon at Lois T. Murray Field. The Mount was held to just six hits combined in the two games as the team's three-game win streak was snapped. Morgan State took the opener, 4-1, before posting a 5-0 win in game two.
The Bears prevailed by the score of 4-1 in the opening game of the doubleheader. After Morgan State (13-12) took the lead on an Amber Rivas RBI single in the bottom of the third, the Mount evened the score in the next half inning.
Tori Bowles doubled, and she came home when
Zoe Truxon reached on an error by the right fielder. Morgan State regained the lead with a urn in the bottom of the inning. The Bears added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth en route to the 4-1 victory.

Gina Del Giorno each had a hit for the Mount in the loss.
Amaya Bowman started, allowing one earned run in 3.2 innings of work, while
Sophia Schmehl allowed one earned run in 2.1 innings of relief.
Morgan State scored five times over the opening three innings in the 5-0 win in game two.
Kaya Hannon recorded three strikeouts in a complete-game effort for the Mountaineers in the game.
Laurenne Gallagher paced the Mount with a pair of hits while
Brianna Manni had one in the loss.
The Mount opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Canisius. The teams are scheduled to open the series with a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
