EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 17, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's bowling finished their last day of the 2023-24 regular season putting the final pieces of their NCAA résumé together in the hopes that the Northeast Roundup will not be the end of the road. Earning victories against Felician and #19 FDU, the Mount attained a record 40 games over .500 for the year at 74-34.
In terms of the weekend tournament, the Mountaineers ended the Northeast Roundup as runners-up with the top average for the two days. #16 Merrimack was able to outwit the Mount in the championship match, four games to two.
Aliza Shirk continued a fantastic weekend with an impressive 24.00 per frame Baker average.
Piper Chalmers and
Alyssa Alexander also surpassed the 20-pin mark, with a respective 20.96 and 20.84.
The squad's best effort Sunday came in the opening contest, going over 200 in every game including a day-high 247, to score 1,126 against Felician. The next two games were fruitful forays around 1,000 pins, but Merrimack and #23 Niagara converted a few more pins for wins. A 1,043 in the Quint Baker finale was more than enough to overtake FDU.
After dropping the first game in the championship match, the Mount surged ahead of the Warriors with a 207 and 204 to go up 2-1. Merrimack rallied for the Northeast Roundup title by winning games four, five, and six.
