SMYRNA, Tenn. (March 10, 2024) – By a difference of 166 pins, Mount St. Mary's bowling sees its run for a berth in the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Championships come to an end at the Sectional in Smyrna, Tennessee.
The Mountaineers finished with a total pinfall of 12,213 over the 64 Baker game marathon weekend to earn their fifth place ranking. That works out to a one-game average of 190.8 for the tournament. After falling from fourth to sixth in the first half of the day, the Mount fought back, hitting their stride in games 54-58 with four games over 200. Other challengers rose in the final few games to take the automatic berth instead.
Webber International battled from seventh place to take the final spot. Jacksonville State, SCAD-Savannah, and Maryland Eastern Shore also advanced.
The regular season concludes with the Northeast Roundup next weekend (March 16-17) in New Castle, Delaware.
