Baltimore, Md. (February 4, 2024)—The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team earned a 4-3 win over Morgan State on Sunday night. The Mount is 1-0 on the season in dual matches.
Sofia Kostirko provided a 6-2, 6-0 win for the Mountaineers at No. 1 singles over Hannah Smith. The Mount also earned points at No. 5 and No. 6 singles by default.
Margherita Trolese fell to Aleksandra Evdokimova, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 2 singles,
Adriana Barney fell to Lauryn Hall, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3 and
Ana Alvarez-Storni lost to Stefania Moysiadi, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 4.
In doubles play, Trolese and Kostirko teamed for a 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. The Mount also won at No. 3 singles by default to take the doubles point. Barney and Alvarez Storni fell to Moysiadi and Evdokimova, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles.
The Mount returns to the court on Saturday, February 10, with a noon match at Howard.
