Victories over #12 Tulane, #14 UMES Cap 8-5 Weekend in Strong Stallings Invite

GREENSBORO, N.C. (February 25, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's bowling won two rounds out of three during Sunday's bracket play at North Carolina A&T State's Stallings Invitational. With wins of #14 Maryland Eastern Shore and #12 Tulane, the Mountaineers capped off an 8-5 against formidable competition at the tournament.

Leah Varela had the best Baker average on the day with 20.81 per frame. 
 
Beginning Sunday in 10th place, the Mount finished Stallings in eighth place. They defeated the Hawks in five games before completing a sweep of the Green Wave. In the seventh place game, they fell to #6 ranked Nebraska in four games. Head-to-head against Tulane and UMES, the Mount is 2-0 against the Green Wave and 2-2 versus the Hawks this season. 
 
Of the eight victories across the weekend, half came against teams ranked in the NTCA poll. Along with the pair of ranked wins on the final day, the Mount also defeated Duquesne and Sam Houston State. With one regular season tournament left the team stands at 68-31 on the season.

Postseason play begins March 8 at the USBC Sectionals. The Mount drew the Nashville bracket.
