Greensboro, N.C. (February 23, 2024) – The Mount Bowling team used two close wins over #9 ranked Duquesne and #11 Sam Houston State to help power a 4-1 opening day at the Stallings Invite. After falling to #6 Nebraska to open competition, the Mountaineers rallied off four consecutive victories. The team currently sits ninth out of 18 teams in total pin-fall.
Senior
Alyssa Alexander was clutch in the anchor position, averaging 20.14 pins per frame. The senior cleaned in the final frames of a 5-pin win and 10-pin win over Duquesne and SHSU, respectively. Freshmen
Leah Varela (18.50) and
Piper Chalmers (18.10) also contributed nicely on the low scoring pattern.

Competition resumes tomorrow at 8:00 AM ET with five traditional matches. The ladies will open up against Lincoln Memorial in a position round match before taking on Howard, #3 Arkansas State, #14 Maryland Eastern Shore, and Coppin State.
