Elizabeth King hit a two-run homer while Abigayle Perry added two RBI to power the Mount to its first win of the season, 7-3, over Monmouth on Sunday morning.

In the bottom of the second, Taylor Williams tripled to set the table for King, who drove the first pitch she saw over the center field fence to give the Mount a 2-0 lead.  A walk and an error put two runners on base for Perry, who doubled to left to plate two more runs for a four-run lead after two innings of play.

After Monmouth got a run back in the third, Brianna Manni singled home King, who had opened the frame with a walk, to restore the four-run advantage in the fourth.  The Mount added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth seal the win.  Tori Bowles lofted a sacrifice fly to bring home the first run, and Willams walked with the bases loaded to make it 7-1.  Monmouth scored twice in the seventh to round out the scoring.

Freshman Sophia Schmehl started in the circle and earned a win in her collegiate debut.  Schmehl allowed one run and five hits in 4.1 innings of work.  Olivia Murphy completed the game, allowing a pair of runs in 2.2 innings of relief.

Perry finished 2-for-4 for the Mount with a double and two RBI while King was 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks, two RBI and a pair of runs scored.
