Three Wins Over Top 10 Squads Puts High Note on Mount Bowling’s Fall Semester

EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 24, 2024) – Completing the Garden State Classic and the fall semester Sunday, Mount St. Mary's bowling defeated three top 10 ranked teams, catapulting from eighth to fifth place.

All three rounds went down to the wire, including a required roll off in the final match of the day. Impressive finishes in the last frames per round proved the difference to earn the three wins.

Starting off with #10 Duquesne, the Mount punctuated the match with their best 10 frames, rolling a 289. That garnered a rematched with #6 North Carolina A&T State, where the Mountaineers took a 3-2 edge before tying game six, 226-226. A roll off was prevented with a 204-202 game seven and a spot in the fifth place game.

In the finale with #9 Maryville, Mount went 2-0 before the sides equalizing in the third game at 215. The Saints then rallied from a three-game deficit to force a five frame roll off. By a margin of 17 pins, the Mountaineers staved off the comeback to secure fifth place.
