EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 23, 2024) – Standing up to a gauntlet of opponents to finish day two of the Garden State Classic, Mount St. Mary's bowling posted high enough scores to move to eighth place heading into the final day.
Averaging 954 pins per round, the Mount moved ahead of Delaware State in the standings. They stand within striking distance of Duquesne, who stand in seventh, with a few pins behind on average from sixth place North Carolina A&T State.
Leah Varela was the best individual for the Mount, finishing 18th in the field. The sophomore averaged 204.2 across the day, including a 246 for her third game.
After splitting matches with a win over Dominican and a narrow defeat to Wilmington, the Mount had to go up against a trio of top five teams to close out the day. They bumped up their average a bit against the three, but despite this and a plus-1,000 series, the Mountaineers fell in each match.
