EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 2, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's bowling won four rounds out of five during the first day of the Niagara Fall Open in Buffalo, New York. In the tournament standings, the Mount stands in third place behind leader Merrimack and host Niagara.
Aliza Shirk led the way in traditional play with a five-game total of 976. Her efforts culminated in a 232 game during the opener against Bryant. The junior added a 213 in the triumph over Pitt Bradford.
Shirk was one of four Mountaineers to compete in all five rounds, along with
Trishelle Leal Uribe,
Leah Varela, and
Alyssa Balest. Leal Uribe had a 938 series with a game high of 220. Varela finished with a 916 and a game high of 211, while Balest bowled in a consistent 20-pin range for a series of 787 and a game high of 170.
Kayleigh McMullen and
Amber Benson split duties for the fifth score, with Benson getting a 208 in the D'Youville win.

The second and ultimate day of the Niagara Fall Open takes place Sunday, November 3 in Buffalo. Play consists of the Baker format, featuring four rounds of Quint Baker and one final best-of-seven Baker bracket round.
